Alison Swann-Ingram
Alison explores the boundaries between fine and functional art by creating furniture that melds the harsh beauty of life with a sculptural design approach. Using materials such as fire salvaged cherry and uniquely figured woods; her work heightens and reveals the connection to the metaphysical aspects of life.
Raised in England, Alison has traveled and worked throughout the world - Shepherdess in Southern France, Rock Climbing Instructor in North Wales, Explorer in Northern Chile, Au Pair in Switzerland. After emigrating to the United States in 1987, and studying at the Oregon College of Arts and Craft, she has made a living designing and building one-of-a kind pieces of furniture and sculpture. Her work has been recently shown in the Tampa International Airport, Florida Craftsmen and are also held in private collections.
Carl Johnson
Carl, a master craftsman with decades of experience, has built cabinets, buffets, and stand-alone furniture. His current areas of interest are the engineering challenges of chair building as well as the use of detail and proportion in creating multi drawer pieces. He particularly enjoys using salvaged woods such as antique heart pine and other more traditional woods such as mahogany, cherry and maple.
The process of building a fine piece of furniture is something that he easily relates to after a distinguished career regulating the development of buildings and structures for the City of Tampa. A native of Tampa, Carl has studied with master craftsmen such as Marc Adams, Bill Hull and Michael Fortune. Carl's work has recently been shown at galleries such as the Florida Craftsmen, Artful Soul and Willow Arts. |
