Artist Biography
Anthony Scheffler has been working with wood for most of his life, first in antique restoration and then as a furniture maker. Over the past several years he has specialized in small vessels and contemporary art pieces. He has always enjoyed exploring simple sculptural forms defined by the intersection of lines. Scheffler's goal has been to present fine craft and contemporary pieces that are generally appealing and yet evoke a personal response. He works with wood because of its universal appeal and natural variations, but he will incorporate various metals and found objects into his work as a way of complementing and drawing attention to the basic shapes. Increasingly, his pieces have evolved to become more sculptural and abstract. To date his work has garnered attention from both private and corporate collectors. Scheffler's work includes open and closed vessels, conceptual pieces, and wall art. |
