Artist Biography

My background and degrees are in Engineering, Physics, and fine art. In woodworking, I am self-taught, but I use all the education daily in understanding and manipulating the chemistry of the resins I use in my "RiverSeries™," in creating new and interesting designs that are well engineered and beautiful, and in using, as often as I can, mixed media in curved, flowing imagery. I have been a kayaker for 45 years and much river imagery and flow makes its way into my work.

We humans take a wonderfully and naturally curvaceous world and chop it up into little boxes and sharp pointed squares. I do my best to reverse that trend. Along with the furniture, I also build sculpture, table-top to monumental, using some of the same techniques and lots of the same curvature.
